13 Lakh credit/debit card hacked

One of the biggest hacking attack in India in which 13 lac people's credit/card is hacked and sold on the dark web in Rs.7000. The name of the bank hasn't been revealed.

The total estimated value is Rs. 920 crore. 18% of all these hacked cards belong to one single bank.

Group-IB leader provider of Cybersecurity solutions which is Singapore based has revealed that right now, a huge dump of hacked debit and credit card details of Indians are being sold on the dark web. Ilya Sachkov, CEO and founder at group-Ib said, "This is indeed the biggest card database encapsulated in a single file ever uploaded on undefined markets at once"

According to him data being sold illegally on the dark web is very rare as it contains entire card details of the users and can be exploited in any possible way. Code name as "INDIA-MIX-NEW-01", this massive stash of hacked data is available under tracks: track 1 and track 2. 98% of the hacked data belongs to Indians, whereas 18% of this belongs to the one single Indian bank. 

The data being sold includes the card number, CVV number, expiry dates, names of the account holders and many more.


How does it happen?

It seems like ATM skimming is done to hack.

It is the process in which hackers place a magnetic stripe in the ATM's, which can steal entire information once the gullible user swipes their card. This method can also be used to steal card details from PoS machines.
